What is it?

Soap. Same shape, same shower. The difference is persimmon tannin, which grabs the oily compound behind old man smell instead of sliding over it. No second product, no routine.

Somewhere around your forties, the oils in your skin start breaking down differently and produce a compound called 2-nonenal. It's oily, not sweaty. Water runs over it. Lather slides past it. It stays.

From there it gets into everything you sit in and put on: collars, the pillow, the driver's seat, the chair you're in every night. It's the smell you remember from your dad's room, and other people notice it before you do.

Showering twice doesn't touch it. Scrubbing harder doesn't either. Your hygiene was never the issue.

Cologne covers it. Tannin removes it.

Persimmon is one of the richest natural sources of tannin, which is why it's been used for washing in Japan for centuries. Tannin attaches to 2-nonenal on contact, so instead of sitting on your skin all day it lifts off with the lather and goes down the drain.

That's the difference between covering something and washing it off. Cologne buys you an hour and leaves you smelling like an old man wearing cologne. A stronger body wash buys you an afternoon. This deals with what's actually there, and once you've rinsed you smell like nothing.

What makes it different from regular soap?

Regular soap is built for sweat and dirt, which are water-based. The odor that shows up after 40 isn't. It comes from 2-nonenal, an oily compound skin starts producing as its natural oils break down, and water and ordinary lather slide straight over it. Persimmon tannin attaches to it instead, so it lifts away with the lather rather than staying on your skin all day.

Do I have to change my routine?

No. Same shower, same spot in the soap dish. Lather it in your hands and spend about ten seconds each on behind the ears, the back of the neck, the upper back and under the arms, because that's where the oil collects. Then wash the rest of you like normal. Skip those four spots and you'll wonder why it didn't work; that's the most common mistake with any persimmon bar.

What does it smell like?

Faint and natural while you're lathering, gone once you rinse. Nothing's added to cover anything up, so you end up smelling like nothing, and it won't fight whatever you already wear.

I've tried everything. Why would this be different?

Fair question. Most of what's out there covers the smell (cologne, body spray, a stronger wash) and it's back by lunch. Antibacterial soap goes after bacteria, and this isn't bacteria. Persimmon tannin is the only thing here that attaches to the compound itself. The cheap bars that disappoint people usually have very little of it. Ours lists persimmon extract near the top of the label, it's made not to dry your skin out, and you've got 90 days to find out for yourself.

Bar came boxed and wrapped in cellophane, not real sudsy , but effective. Smells nice . Will purchase again. Yes there are 3 bars .

highly recommend especially if nothing else has worked for under arm smells.

so the best way to use the soap is let it lather up and put it underneath your arms and leave it there for about 10 or 20 seconds and then clean it off you can definitely shower with this soap but I bought it specifically to combat the slightly bad body odor I've gotten as I've gotten older due to hormonal changes. True facts they don't tell women about these changes that we go through once we hit 50s and it seems like 50s hit back. Your normal deodorant and soap routine do not work on this particular smell coming from your under arms. But this particular soap actually does help with that it just has to be applied a certain way you must soap up the underarm area allowed to sit 10 to 20 seconds and then rinse it off and it should work after that it should work quite well. I use this in combination with the persimmon deodorant to help combat the sweaty smells especially the nervous sweat smells. The three pack seems to work really well for me I've only used the one bar of soap so far.
